The Challenge
An international embassy in Kyiv required an additional communications pathway to support operational continuity in an environment where terrestrial infrastructure may be disrupted without warning. The diplomatic facility needed a rapidly deployable satellite solution that could operate independently of local last-mile networks. The installation also had to accommodate an active rooftop containing existing satellite equipment, surrounding structures and other potential obstructions.
Acel's Solution
Acel coordinated qualified in-country field resources to assess the rooftop, identify a suitable mounting location and install a Starlink low-Earth-orbit satellite terminal.
- Rooftop site assessment and obstruction review
- Selection of a mounting position with a clear view of the sky
- Secure installation of the Starlink terminal
- Exterior cable routing into the facility
- Router connection and system configuration
- Terminal alignment and obstruction-map verification
- Wi-Fi and end-to-end connectivity testing
- Remote coordination and completion reporting
The terminal was positioned above the surrounding roofline and away from nearby structures that could interfere with satellite visibility. Following installation, the Starlink application confirmed proper orientation and clear sky coverage, allowing the system to complete calibration and enter service.
The Result
Acel successfully delivered and commissioned an independent LEO connectivity solution for the embassy. The new Starlink link provides an additional communications option that can support continuity when conventional terrestrial services are unavailable, degraded or congested. The project also demonstrated Acel's ability to mobilize trusted local technical resources and execute sensitive satellite deployments in challenging operating environments.
